About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Us citizen traveling to Phillipines with stop in Shanghai

I will be traveling to the Philippines and have a 19 hr lay over in Shanghai. I'm not looking to leave the airport. What's my best option and must do before and while I arrive to airport for my layover. All I want to do is arrive and wait the hours in the airport for my next flight.

AFAIK Pudong's international area closes after midnight so you must clear immigration and leave the airport at some point. There's an airport hotel located between terminals on airport premises.
