About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can you fly into Shanghai via connection in Beijing?

Hi! If I am planning on going from US to Shanghai, but the connection is a 2 hour layover from US to Beijing, is that ok? Or does it have to be direct flight US to Shanghai?
