About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Weekend from Singapore

I'm planning to visit Shanghai for a weekend and I'm traveling from and to Singapore. As the illustrations and descriptions indicate that the departure country (country a) and arrival country (country b) after China are two different locations do I qualify or do I not when traveling from Singapore to Shanghai and from Shanghai back to Singapore?
Thanks.

Singapore-Shanghai-Singapore obviously isn't transit so you must get a visa. However Singapore-Malaysia-Shanghai-Singapore or Singapore-Shanghai-Malaysia-Singapore are eligible.
