chinese visa for 8 hrs transit in shanghai.

Question

I am going to US via shanghai and have 8 hrs transit in shanghai. Is it possible to obtain Chinese visa for a day to out and visit the nearest places before my flight to US.

Kuldeep, you can enjoy 24 hr direct transit in Shanghai if you travel like that. You only need to apply for a free temporary stay permit at the immigration office when you arrive at the airport. Afterwards, you can leave the airport to visit the nearest places.
