I am travelling from kathmandu to sydney via Kunming

It can be a little tight to process the baggage as well as recheck in. If possible, do change to a later departure.

Perhaps you don't need to reclaim bags and recheck in for international to international transfer, I suggest you consult both airlines you are traveling with in case. If so, 2.5h can be enough!
