Internship in China and backpack through Thailand

Hi,
At the moment I'm doing an internship in Xi'an with a X2 type for one entry. My flight back from Xi'an to The Netherlands will be at 13th of February and I would like to go backpacking through Thailand from 13th of January till 12th of February or so.

Is it possible to leave my luggage in Xi'an, come back from Thailand, get a 24h TWOV, grab my luggage and go back to the airport? My itinerary plan will be like this then:
-Now in Xi'an
-13th Jan flight to Thailand
-12th Feb flight back to Xi'an to grab luggage
-13th Feb flight to Beijing, then Munich and at last Amsterdam

If the 24h TWOV is not valid for it, what kind of visa will be?
Thank you very much!

If your total layover in Xian and Beijing won’t exceed 24 hours, you can make use of the 24 hour direct transit. Otherwise, you need to apply for a transit G type for this journey.

But could I pickup my luggage I left at my dormitory in Xi'an then, without the G type?

If you can make use of the 24 hour direct transit, you can do that then. No need to worry!
