About:Requirements for China Green Card (Permanent Residence Permit)

Permanent Residence for Chinese parents

So my parents has lived abroad for almost 20 years and holds a foreign passport. They've decided to retire and move back to China. So my question is are they eligible to apply for permanent residency as they are still Chinese by birth and has relatives still living in China?

And also how long would it be to process the application? And what sort of supporting documents would they need?

A reply would be much appreciated.

Thank You

I’m afraid they cannot get permanent residence permit at present. If they have direct relatives in China, they may be able to apply for an s1 type and then apply for a temporary residence permit to stay in China.

When you mean direct relatives, it's means their own children or like brothers and sisters? I assume if they can't get permanent residency then their only option is to renounce their foreign passport and apply to gain Chinese citizenship.....well that's how far i understand the law anyways. Am I wrong?

The direct relatives mean their own children or like brothers and sisters. I'm afraid they cannot gain Chinese citizenship, either. You can contact the China embassy to confirm that if you doubt.
