Is it necessary to have a hotel reservation?

Is it necessary to have a hotel reservation? I am planning on staying at my friend's house. Can I write his name and address in the paper that is given in the airplane?

Eliinchina, if you can provide an invitation letter from your friend, the accommodation arrangement is not required then. You can find invitation sample at this website, and then download it and fill it out for your use.
