About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

Does an S2 Visa allow me to work in China?

I am able to get an S2 because my wife has a type Z. What will this allow me to do? I have academic and consultancy experience. Could I present work at a conference? Could I get a temporary job?

It does not. If you want to legally work in China then you'll need a type Z visa.
