About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Australia to Vancouver With 2 Transit Stops in China

I was planning to fly China Eastern from Vancouver Canada to Sydney Australia with a layover in Beijing in between. On the China Eastern return flight from Sydney back to Vancouver, the flight will have a 1 hour and 40 minutes layover in Hangzhou before doing a second much longer stop in Beijing.

On the return leg, would I be disqualified from utilizing the 72 hours transit pass in Beijing since the airplane made a short prior layover stop in Hangzhou while going from Sydney to Beijing? Although the 72-hours transit pass would work going to Australia, there is not point as the flight are almost $1,000 more to make the stopover on the way there.

An extra stop in Mainland China immediately disqualifies you from the 72-hour transit. An L visa for Canadians costs CAD$100 and is valid for the life of your passport.
