About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

72 hour visa waiver when about to cruise from shanghai

I am flying to shanghai, staying in hotel overnight and boarding cruise ship next day. I will not be visiting any other places in china. Do I qualify for 72 hour free transit waiver. I am flying back from Hong Kong at end of cruise
