About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

73& a half hours

I'll flying from Sydney to Beijing next year.When I arrive I will be spending under 72 hours there then I go to the DPRK for 5 day guided tour return to Beijing in the morning just realised I'll be staying 73 & a half hours before I fly to Seoul.Will I still need an entry permit?

Unfortunately you do for your return leg, although it is technically possible for you to apply for a Transit G visa in the DPRK.
