chengdu long layover - leave for airport hotel

Question

I have a 14 hour layover for my flight from San Francisco USA -> Chengdu 14 hours -> Kathmandu Nepal.What is the process to get to the airport hotel, do I need to uncheck my bags? 72 hour or 24 hour free transit? Do I apply online first or can I do this whole process in the airport in Chengdu?

Steve, you are eligible for the 24 hour direct transit in Chengdu. Please contact with the airlines to ask if your luggage will be delivered to the final destination directly. If yes, you don’t need to claim it after arrival. You don't need to do this online first, but you need to apply for a free temporary stay permit at the immigration office when you arrive at the airport. Afterwards, you can leave the airport for the hotel.
