Confirmed reservation but no seat

I booked an economy flight via Cathay Pacific (SFO --> Shanghai --> HK --> SFO). The economy fare doesnt allow pre-booking of seats, so seats can only be selected 48 hours prior to flight.

Because my flight leaving Shanghai will not have a seat (but does have a confirmed reservation) when I arrive in Shanghai, do I still qualify for the 144 hour Free Transit?
