Would we qualify for 72-hour free transit Visa in Beijing?

I am from Canada and we have booked a flight from Toronto to BJ from October 4th-22nd. However, we are only staying in BJ from Oct 4th-7th (58 hours in total) and then flying to Malaysia. We later return to BJ from Singapore on Oct 22nd and fly back home the same day. Would we qualify for the free 72-hour free transit Visa?
