Transit G for 13 hours layover in Pu Dong

I have a flight from Clark to Los Angeles this December. I have a 13 hours layover in Pu Dong, Shanghai. I want to visit the Great Wall of China within that 13 hours (or add another destination if time permits). Do I need a Chinese visa or will a "transit permit" do? I have a valid Philippine Passport.

Anna, if you want to visit the Great Wall, you need to go to Beijing instead of Shanghai. If your total layover time in mainland China is less than 24 hours, you are eligible for 24 hr direct transit. No need to apply for a G type for that. You need to apply for a free temporary stay permit at the immigration office when you arrive at the airport, then you can leave there to explore the city.

You are eligible for 24 hr direct transit in SH. No need to apply for a G type for that. If you want to leave the airport, you need to apply for a free temporary stay permit at the immigration office when you arrive at the airport, then you can leave to explore the city.
