Apart from the way you mentioned, here is a better way to go. You may walk from the garden to Suzhou Museum bus stop and take no. 178 or 202 to Suzhou Railway Station. Then head to the nearby North Square Bus Station to take a direct bus to WZ. The schedules are 8:15 - 17:20. It takes 1-1.5h and costs CNY35.
