Hi I am a Pakistani national and a resident of UAE , I have to travel to HK for a business workshop can you please guide me the application process, can I apply through China consulate / embassy in UAE?

Salman, it's possible for you to make the application from there. You need to provide copy of passport, the application form affixed with a passport-style photo, proof of your financial support, transportation and accommodation arrangement, and your travel plan. Then, submit the application to the Chinese embassy to apply for HK business visa.
