Which visa do I apply for 48 hours?

My friend and I will fly into Shanghai and leave 48 hours later by cruise ship.

Karen, if you travel like country A-Shanghai (48 hours)-country B, you can use the 144 hour free transit program. No need to apply for any visa then.
