Do I need to apply a Chinese visa?

Hi there,
I hold Australia passport, I am planning to go to Shanghai for 3 days, then Japan for 7 days, then Shanghai for 4 days then back to Australia so it is Australia - Shanghai (3days)-Japan (7days)-Shanghai (4days)- Australia.

Ping, no, you don’t need to apply for it. You are able to use the 144 hour free transit facility in Shanghai in both directions.
