Darshan, if you will travel like Auckland-Shanghai(7 hours)-Delhi-Shanghai(19 hours)-Auckland, you will be able to enjoy the 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai. No visa will be needed then if you want to leave the airport. But you may be required to apply for a free temporary stay permit at the immigration office when you arrive at the airport. Afterwards, you can leave the airport to explore the city.
