Marie, you are eligible for the 24 hour direct transit in Guangzhou, and you need to apply for a free temporary stay permit at the immigration office when you arrive at the airport, then you can leave there to explore the city.

Hi Thomas,

Thank you for your answer.. so I don't need to apply for an entry permit in china embassy here in Dubai before I leave? Because I don't want to take a risk of getting this long layover flights if i can't explore guangzhou for a day 😊

There is a new policy which prohibits passengers transiting in Guangzhou to leave the sterile transit zone if their transit time is under 24 hours. You don't need to apply for a visa in advance if you only remain in the sterile transit area. You can call the Guangzhou airport to confirm this. TEL: 020-36066999
