About:China Transit Visa

Transiting from Australia to Shanghai to board a cruise leaving the following day

I'm leaving Perth, flying thru Singapore to Shanghai. I have an overnight stay at a local hotel and will board the cruise ship the following day. Can I transit without a visa if I have the ticket showing cabin and departure dates etc. required for the 144 hour exemption. Also how do I inform the airline ahead of time, or do I just let them know at check in.

Hi, if you will go to a third country or region rather than Singapore, you will be able to enjoy the 144 hour free transit in there. When you board the flight in Singapore, you need to inform the airlines that you want to use the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai. After arriving at Shanghai airport, you can go to the transit counter to apply for the 144 hour free transit.
