About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Route eligible for the 144 hr free transit?

In the examples above, that are eligible, it reads: UK-Shanghai-Hong Kong is okay.
Is Germany - Hong Kong - Shanghai - Hong Kong - Germany fine as well?

Of course not, because Hong Kong- Shanghai-Hong Kong isn't a transit.
