Get the S1 type without the invitation letter? want my wife to visit me for more than 6 months

i am currently studying in china on x1 type with a resident more then 6 months
my wife wants to come to china to visit me on S1 type
she has gathered all the required documents
i wanted to know if an invitation letter from university is required
or just a letter from me , my visa copy , my resident permit copy and jw202 form is enough?
Can she get the S1 type without the invitation letter from the university?

Yes, an invitation letter from the university is needed. It is necessary.

I had to take the invitation letter from university and then she applied and the visa was granted
