About:China Visa Exemption

Flight to shanghai layover 24 hrs then cruise to Japan is a visa required us citizens

Flying from us to shanghai stay in shanghai 24 hrs then depart on 5 day japan islands cruise depart from shanghai immediately fly home to us

Found conflicting info if entry permits are required

Jennifer, you can enjoy free transit in Shanghai, and no visa is required for that. Don't worry!
