About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

CNX to LAX

My family are visiting me from Chiangmai Thailand to Los Angeles USA, their next flight is 22 hours layover, Are they in this criteria? Are they able to go outside the airport and sightseeing?

Your family is travelling on a Thai passport?
Then they have to apply for a transit G type.
There´s no 24h free transit for Thai anymore unfortunately.
