About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

About Transit in Shanghai

I'm going to be flying from US to Shanghai, and then from there connecting through Hong Kong or Tokyo, landing back in the US. I'm trying to figure out if the 72 or 144 hour visa will be valid because my return flight is only a connection in the 3rd country. Thanks.

You can use it as long as you are in transit. Doesn't have to be to/from your native country.
