About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Nationality: Indian , Do I need to apply for visa ?

Im traveling from Mumbai- Beijing - Auckland and have a 13hour layover at Beijing (Pek). Would I need to apply for entry permit if I stay inside the airport in the lounge area ?
And would I need to apply for entry permit if I plan on going outside for sight seeing?

You can use 24 hour direct transit in Beijing, but you may be required to apply for a free temporary stay permit at the immigration office when you arrive at the airport to explore the city.
