Do I need a transit G type?

Hi! I have a layover of 16 hours in Shanghai Pudong airport (PDG) during my flight from San Francisco to Tokyo. I am not from one of the countries that can enter without visa nor qualify for the 72 hours exemption. Can I still have a layover in PDG without a entry permit? I will be leaving from the same airport.

Hi, you are eligible for the 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai. No transit G type is needed for that. Have a nice trip!

Sorry but the information from Lilly is totally wrong.
You're not eligible for the 24h transit as you travel on an Malaysian passport.
They're, like some other nationalities, disbanded from the 24h transit.
