About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am flying from US to Beijing to Thailand...

There is a 14-hour layover in Beijing.
If I wanted to leave the airport and visit the Great Wall in Badaling...will I need a specific visa?

Rick, you qualifies for free transit in Beijing, no visa is needed for that. But as you just transit for 14 hours, you may be required to apply for a free temporary stay permit at the immigration office when you arrive at the airport. Afterwards, you can leave the airport to go to the Great Wall.
