72 hour visa free transit in Shanghai?

I am a Canadian flying :
Vancouver to Tokyo (8 day stop)
Tokyo to Shanghai (68 hour stop)
Shanghai return to Vancouver (plane change in Tokyo)

Drew, you cannot use free transit in Shanghai because Tokyo-Shanghai-Tokyo is not a transit at all.
