My husband and I have a 3 day layover in guangzhou.

What is the best area to stay that's close to things to see and a metro or bus?

I suggest you to stay in a hotel along Beijing Road in yuexiu district. There are many attractions in this district, like Yuexiu Park, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, and Guangxiao temple. Beijing Road metro station is also in the road.
