China passport validity period after renewal

Hi, my wife passport will be expired in September 2018. I want to renew her passport early because I will travel to overseas for working purpose. I want to know whether will she lost the remaining validity of her old passport when she renew her passport on August 2017 or will her new passport expired in August 2027?
