About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

HI, all on USA passports, myself and my 3 kids are going this weekend to Philippines to see Grandma

We start in San Francisco, fly direct to Wuhan 1.5 hour layover; on to Guangzhou, 15 hour layover onward to Manila. Reverse coming home about the same layover times. Not so worried about wanting to see the sights in Wuhan, plan on seeing the inside of a restroom and waiting to get on fresh gassed up aircraft. Regardless, in Guangzhou, will want to get out and look around. The stays are all less than 24 hours but going, we land in one city, Wuhan, fly to another within China and then onward...Does the simple fact we land first in Wuhan, regardless we don't leave the airport kill the 24 hour visa free visit?

No, you cannot use the 24 hour direct transit because US passport holders cannot use multiple stops transit in China if transiting visa Wuhan. You need to apply for a transit G type for that.

I'm also confused about this. I'm in Thailand now and am planning a trip into the US (I'm American). Was planning on China Southern flight with overnight layover in Guangzhou and following day short flight to Wuhan (pick up passengers) then on to SFO. According to the above 24 hour visa free rule, "For instance, if one's trip is Los Angeles – Beijing – Shanghai – Bangkok and the total time in China is less than 24 hours, the passenger can still enjoy the 24-hour direct transit. . . " but the sales agent at China Southern said the free entry was not permitted.I

It is said that the policy has changed a little bit. US and Canadian passport holders are not permitted to use the multiple-stop transit within China if they transit in Weihai, or Wuhan.
