Well, the Forbidden City is only about 3 kilometers from your hotel. If you take a bus to the museum, you will still need to walk about 1.7 kilometers. Therefore, you are advised to take a taxi at a cost of CNY13/person in the day time.
The bus route:
You may walk about 700 meters to Meishuguan Bus Stop and take bus no.103 to Beihai Bus Stop. Upon arrival, you may need to walk about 1 kilometer to the entrance.0
