About:China Consulate in Houston

Is a VISA needed for the following situation?

My wife and I are scheduled to arrive in Shanghai 30 AUG 2017 via United Airlines at 1730 hours. We depart Shanghai onboard Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas 01 SEP 2017 at 1430 hours (Onboard is by 1500 hours). On 05 SEP 2017, we stop in Hong Kong (1000 hours to 2000 hours)

Hi, James, you don't need a visa for that because you are eligible for free transit in Shanghai and you can enjoy free entry to HK for not more than 90 days. Have a nice trip!
