About:China Visa Application in USA

I am planning to visit China for 7 days.

The Visa application says I need an 'invitation' letter from a friend proving where I will be staying. Is this a necessary part of the application?

Hi, if you have transportation and accommodation arrangement, the invitation letter is not required then.
