About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

I'm flying from LAX and have a 12 hour layover in Shanghai(PVG) before final destination Korea(ICN)

Do I need a visa to leave the airport so I can tour Shanghai for a few hours before returning to the airport to fly to Korea? Do I need to notify anyone or submit any documents in the airport at LAX or PVG that I will be leaving the airport during my layover?

Hi, you can enjoy 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai, and you may be required to apply for a free temporary stay permit by taking your passport and onward tickets at the immigration office when you arrive at PVG. Afterwards, you can leave the airport to explore the city.
