US citizens Qualify - free transit in China - 2 days visit to Xian & overnight layover shanghai

We are US passport holders, husband, wife and 2 minor daughters traveling to Xian via Seoul, staying total only 49 hours to see Terra Cotta Army, then from Seoul have 17 hours overnight layover in Shanghai back to Los Angeles. How can we be sure if we qualify for visa exemption? Thank you!!

Hi, if you travel like USA-Seoul-Xian(49 hours)-Seoul-Shanghai(17 hours)-Angeles, you qualify for the 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai. But you need a visa for Xian.
