About:China Private Visit Visa

Can one convert S1 visa to Z type within China? one has to leave country first to obtain a Z type.

Hi,
I would be arriving on S1 type to join my family in Bejing, My partner have a work permit and residence permit, I am looking forward to having some job for me there, is it possible to change my type type once I get a job offer from any company. Or do I have to leave the country to convert my S1 type to Z type.
Should I have to apply for a residence permit as well, during my stay in china on S1 type.

You should apply for a temporary residence permit within 30 days after entering China on an S1 type.
After you find a job, you can try to convert the S1 type to a work Z type at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB within China. If it works out, you don’t need to go back to your home country.
