Hotel Reservation Requirement

Hello - My husband and I will be traveling in many different areas of China for three weeks during our stay. Do we need to show hotel reservations for every night of the entire trip in order to obtain our Visas?

Based on what I know, you need to provide most part of your hotel reservation.
