About:China Visa Application Procedure and Fee

My wife and I are traveling to Shanghai stopping 5 days then going on a cruise for 12 days

The cruise finishes in Hong Kong were we stop for 2 days before returning to Australia. Do we require a single or multiple entry visa

Geoff, if your travel route is Australia-Shanghai-a third country or region-HK-Australia, you can enjoy the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai. No need to apply for a visa then.
Besides, Australian passport holders can enjoy free entry to HK for a stay of not more than 90 days.
