HKG - PEK - HKG requires a visa in advance. You're not eligible for 72 free transit because you're not in transit.

Thank you Leo, if I decide to buy another air fare to come back to Auckland via scan no I 7thj get country, say Beijing-Singapore-Auckland will that be ok and 72h free transit granted on arrival to Beijing? I don't have enough time to apply Ang get Chinese visa, if I stay in HKong another day to get visa I will miss the trade show...did you think going back different way will allow me 72h free transit? Then you need to fly HKG - PEK - "Any country that is not Hong Kong or China". And you must fly it, not just buy a ticket. You may experience difficult checking in at Auckland if they will see an itinerary that is not compliant for visa-free transit, so leave extra time just in case.
