i currently reside in china and my friend wants to visit me from zimbabwe?how does he go about it

He can apply for a tourist L type to visit you.
First, prepare the required documents including passport and its copy, the filled-out application form, a passport-style photo, and an invitation letter from you.
Next, submit the application to China embassy.
