About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Going to other places with visa on arrival

Isn't it allowed to travel to other provinces?

For example
If I arrive in Beijing or Shanghai and want to go to Gansu province, I really can't do it?
How do they control this?

Usually, you cannot get VOA in Beijing or Shanghai, and you are not allowed to visit other cities with VOA.
If you are eligible for the 72 hour free transit in Beijing or the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai, you cannot visit Gansu. Immigration inspection offices are available at each train station and airport, so you will be caught when you leave the restricted zone.

And if you tried to check-in to a hotel in Gansu, your lack of a vaild visa will be discovered and reported to the police. This could have serious repercussions for you. Don't even think about trying to break the rules.
