About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I need to accompany a minor who is Chinese from NYC to Shanghai.

For medical reasons she cannot travel alone. If I get a flight on to Perth Australia then back to NYC would that work? I do not hold a visa for China What airline would I make my arrangements with?

Patty, if you travel like NYC-Shanghai-Perth-NYC, you can use the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai for that.
