do I need visa for china Beijing

Hi

I am a tourist flying from London Heathrow to Thailand. I wish to Visit China and have booked from Thailand to Beijing return, within 72 hours. Then return home Thailand to the UK. Can I enter and exit visa free, and travel to tourist hot spots in China.
