I am planning to go visit hongkong for the winter holiday. To show financial support proof, how much and how should i show the proof and should the flight tickets be purchased before applying for visa. Also do I need to show booking proof if I was staying at a friends' place?

Hein, you can provide bank savings account, or bank statement as proof of your financial support. There is no exact requirement for how much you should provide. Usually, you should prepare at least USD100 per day. You need to book flight tickets before making the application. If you stay with your friend, you can just provide an invitation letter from your friend.
