My husband and I are planning to travel with my son 18 years old to Beijing for 5 days tour.

Do we need to apply for a visa? Are we after the single-entry tourist L type cost AUD 109.05 per person?

Yes, you need to apply for a single-entry tourist L visa in advance.
The visa does cost AUD109.5 per person.
